If you randomly upload photos from multiple devices like computer, smartphone, camera, etc., edited copies may upload on Google Photos as duplicates.
Such uploads create duplicate photos in different folders. Whenever you upload photos using Picasa, a new upload folder with a different name, date, time, tags are created for every new upload. Repeated backups in different folders, burst shots, and multiple clicks are the main reasons for duplicate photos. When it comes to finding duplicate photos manually, it becomes difficult to hunt out every individual folder and sub-folder to look for duplicates. These platforms offer limited storage space and can't afford to have duplicates else will run out of storage space shortly.
While uploading photos on Google Photos or any other backup device, we need to pay special attention to avoid uploading duplicate photos or files. To do so, we upload our photos on cloud storage like Google Drive, OneDrive, Google Photos or other platforms. At times, we want to revisit our stuff time and again. To free up storage on our smartphone, we take backups in our computers or transfer them into an external hard drive. Rest is what you have for your photos, videos, movies, Facebook, and other stuff.
The average smartphone storage space is 64GB, however, half of the space is pre-occupied by system Apps and operating system files. The lure of taking the perfect selfie shot fills most of the smartphones in less than 6 months.
